Zendaya stepped out for a London screening of “Dune” in purple makeup and a sculptural updo worthy of a futuristic heroine.
When celebrating the premiere of an iconic sci-fi story, an appropriately futuristic beauty moment is practically a mandate. But leave it to Zendaya to step out in a look at once referential, genre-minded, and entirely her own. To accompany her sequined, statuesque Rick Owens gown, the actress opted for an equally sculptural updo and purple eye makeup that instantly evoked an otherworldly heroine.
Combed and coifed to pioneering perfection, Zendaya's gelled and molded coiled cornrows—the work of hairstylist Antoinette—culminated in an artistic tie-back pinned in twists and loops to eye-catching effect. And while the dress and coiffure combined to create a sense of sleek opulence, the makeup took the look to levels positively regal. Makeup artist Raoúl Alejandre teamed purple-smoked lids with a touch of metallic lavender at the inner corners, shadow extending for an eye-enhancing approach furthered by brushed-up brows and lush lashes. Shimmering Bulgari baubles and a glossed lip ensured that the entire aesthetic centered on sparkle—the ideal approach to promote a story that takes place within an interstellar society.
