Summer hair inspiration right here.
Gabrielle Union is embracing short hair.
The actor-mogul debuted a chic new look July 21 on the set of her new Netflix movie, The Perfect Find: a super-short bob with a Gen Z–approved middle part.
Union loves experimenting and playing with her hair, so it’s entirely possible this is temporary and only for the movie. Regardless, it’s a fun look—and perfect for the late summer months, when temperatures are high and I’m sweating so much, it hurts. (No, seriously: It hurts. The sweat is trickling down my face and stinging my eyes. It’s horrible. Where the hell is December?)
Check out Gabrielle Union’s look for yourself, below. I’m loving it.
Short haircuts are definitely a thing this year. Styles like the Modern Diana bob (a short layered bob edging toward a pixie) and even buzz cuts are popping up all over social media. “I think 2021 will be all about structure. Out with the messy texture; in comes the polished structure,” Riawna Capri, co-owner of Nine Zero One in L.A, told Glamour a few months back. And on the subject of bobs in general, Jon Reyman, the owner of Spoke & Weal salons, says, “This cut is a statement. Cool is more important than sexy right now. Or rather, cool is the new sexy.”
Cool, and also accessible. “Considering the current climate, a lot of women are doing their hair at home, therefore easy, effortless looks will be the go-to,” says Naeemah LaFond, Amika’s global artistic director. Shorter styles definitely fall into this category. Short hair means low maintenance and upkeep, which is perfect if you can’t get to a salon easily. It’s also perfect for reopening, when you want to focus on doing things, not your hair and makeup.
